Did You See the Scale?

“Did you see the scale?” I asked. The chart had her weight at each office visit: 210, 208, 211, 176.
I tried to look nonchalant but I could feel the excitement in my chest.
“Uh-huh,” and she grinned.
“That seems a bit different than last time,” I said.
“It is!” and we hit a high five.
I’ll bet my face looked ready to split, I was smiling so big.
“That is amazing! 36 pounds in 4 months! What in the world are you doing?”
“Some guy told me I had to write down my food, so I did. Wow was I way off! I told you I ate 1,500 calories a day but it was over 2,500 once I counted. So I cut back to 1,600 and now look at me! I feel so good I started running a little and now I can tell the calories in my food like that.” She snapped her fingers.
“Can I blog you? I’m so proud and impressed, I want to brag on you!”
She’s still succeeding — and so can you!

  1. It’s so funny how so many people have zero concept of calories — how many you’re supposed to eat, how many are in a particular food. I always tried low fat diets unsucessfully as a teenager — I never even looked at calories. I thought gummi bears were OK! Uhhh … NOPE.

    I’d love to post more regularly at Fashionably Fit, but because I work full time as a reporter, sometimes the last thing I want to do is create more content when I come home. Your comment makes me want to post more, though!
